RUGGED~EARLY 60s DUWARD PATINATED SKIN-DIVER

Regular price $479.00 Sale

FOR SALE IS A SUPER COOL EARLY 60s DUWARD SKIN-DIVER WITH SOME OF THE COOLEST PATINA I'VE SEEN.

  • CASE: AS AGED AS THAT DIAL LOOKS, THIS CASE LOOKS INCREDIBLY SHARP. THIS 35mm NOT INCLUDING CROWN BY 42.3mm ALL STEEL CASE WAS A POPULAR STYLE USED IN DIVE WATCHES BACK IN THE LATE 50s AND EARLY 60s AND IS ONE OF MY FAVS. I LOVE THOSE SHARP CHAMFERS THAT RUN ALONG THE SIDE OF THE LUGS AND THAT SUPER THIN DIVE BEZEL WHICH ALLOWS FOR A WIDER DIAL AND THUS GIVES THIS A MUCH LARGER IMPRESSION ON THE WRIST. SPEAKING OF BEZELS, LOOK HOW WELL PRESERVED THIS ONE IS. THE BLACK INSERT HAS MAINTAINED ITS ORIGINAL BLACK BOLDNESS, AND I JUST LOVE THOSE TINY NUMERIC MARKINGS. SUCH A COOL LOOK.

  • DIAL: THIS IS THE SHOW-STOPPER RIGHT HERE! THIS CREME' DIAL HAS AGED TO A LUSCIOUS GOLDEN HUE FROM 60 YEARS OF LIVING. THE DIAL HAS A DELIGHTFUL SPECKLED PATINA PATTERN AS WELL WHICH GIVES THIS ONE A TON OF CHARACTER. AND, CHECK OUT THAT AGED LUME ON THE DIAL AND THOSE CLASSIC BROAD ARROW STYLE HANDS. THE SMALL SECONDS DIAL IS A FUN QUIRKY ADDITION AND GIVES THIS ONE A SENSE OF CLASS.

  • MOVEMENT: THIS DUWARD  RUNS ON A 15 JEWEL MANUAL WINDER WHICH LOOKS CLEAN AND HAS BEEN RUNNING STRONG, WINDING SMOOTH, AND KEEPING SOLID TIME. SERVICE HISTORY IS UNKNOWN.

  • WATCH IS MOUNTED ON A NATURAL COLORED HODINKEE LEATHER NATO WHICH BRINGS OUT THE RUGGED ATTITUDE OF THIS GUY.  DUWARD WAS A SWISS SPORTS WATCH BRAND WHICH WAS KNOWN IN THE 60s AND 70s TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH AQUASTAR. THE BRAND WAS HEAVILY MARKETED TO THE SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE MARKETS OFTEN SHARING DUAL BRANDING WITH AQUASTAR. MY GUESS IS THAT THIS MODEL MIGHT SLIGHTLY PRE-DATE THAT MERGER. THIS ONE IS SUCH A BLAST TO WEAR. THE CASE SIZE AND VIBE REMIND ME OF THE EARLY ZODIAC SEA-WOLFS IN SIZE AND FEEL. IT MAKES FOR A GREAT KICK-AROUND PIECE, BUT I IMAGINE COULD MAKE A FUN DRESS WATCH WITH THE RIGHT STRAP.
