FOR SALE IS A TOTALLY SWANKY 1965 JAQUET GIRARD EPSA CASED SINGLE CROWN COMPRESSOR DRESS DIVER WITH A TON OF CHARACTER.
- CASE: CLEAN AND CRISP EPSA SOLID STEEL COMPRESSOR CASE MEASURING IN AT 36mm NOT INCLUDING ORIGINAL CROSS-HATCH CROWN BY 44mm LUG TO LUG. THIS CASE IS REALLY SEXY. THE WAY IT WRAPS AROUND THE WRIST AND ITS SLEEK DOWNSLOPING LUGS MAKE THIS ONE AN ABSOLUTE PLEAURE TO WEAR. I DIG THAT THIN BEZEL WHICH MAKES THIS ONE APPEAR TO BE ALL-DIAL. THE CLINCHER ON THIS ONE IS THAT RIGHTEOUS AIRVAC ENGRAVING ON THE CASEBACK WITH THE IMAGE OF THE DIVER WATCH BEING VACUUM SEALED.
- DIAL: IT'S REALLY NOT EASY TO CAPTURE THE CHARACTER OF THIS DIAL. THERE'S SOMETHING SO SATISFYING ABOUT THAT BUBBLED SUNBURST SILVER DIAL WITH THE BOLD CROSSHAIRS DESIGN. WITH JUST THE 3 RECTANGULAR BLACK MARKERS, SOME BASIC HASHES FOR THE MINUTES, AND THE DATE AT 3, ITS SUCH A WELL BALANCED DESIGN. ALL THE LUME PLOTS ARE STILL INTACT AND HAVE A NICE PATINA TO THEM WHICH MATCHES WITH THE DARKENED TRITIUM ON THE HANDS. THIS FACE HAS SEEN SOME LIVING YET STILL LOOKS HANDSOME AND REFINED. THIS IS THE WAY I LIKE VINTAGE.
- MOVEMENT: THIS WELL MANNERED GENT RUNS ON A CLEAN SWISS 25J ETA AUTOMATIC. SERVICE HISTORY IS UNKNOWN ON THIS ONE, BUT IT HAS BEEN RUNNING STRONG ON/OFF THE WRIST AND KEEPING DAMN GOOD TIME.
I'VE GOT THIS COMPRESSOR MOUNTED ON A BAD-ASS DISTRESSED CARAMEL BROWN BRIDLE LEATHER STRAP WHICH PLAYS WELL WITH THE AGED VIBE OF THIS BEAUTY. THIS ONE REALLY HAS A TON OF CHARACTER. I THINK IT'S COOL THAT ITS DEPTH RATING WAS 400FT WHICH MADE THIS ONE A LEGIT DIVE WATCH BACK IN THE DAY. I FEEL LIKE THIS JAQUET GIRARD HAS SOME STORIES TO TELL OF LATE NIGHT SWIMS ON THE FRENCH RIVIERA FOLLOWED BY SOME HIGH STAKES ROULETTE IN MONACO . THIS IS A GORGEOUS ALL PURPOSE VINTAGE WATCH WITH A GREAT LOOK AND AN AWESEOME PEDIGREE. EPSA WAS THE FAMOUS SWISS CASEMAKER WHO MADE THE HIGHLY ROBUST DIVE WATCH CASES FOR ALL THE TOP DOG WATCH BRANDS IN THE 60s AND EARLY 70s. ANY SERIOUS DIVE WATCH COLLECTOR NEEDS A VINTAGE EPSA SINGLE-CROWN DRESS-DIVER.
